"Red" is about a horse loving girl named America. She and her family have just moved halfway across the country for her Dad's job. It's a whole different kind of riding on the east coast, so what's a barrel racing Midwestern girl to do? When her dad starts dating the owner of a local horse farm, America is so desperate to be around horses, she'll do anything, even try riding english. America also has to deal with making new friends, being a junior at Avon High, and adjusting to the idea that her dad's girlfriend has been around longer than any other. Oh, and there's a cute boy who has caught her attention too.

But it all came crashing down when her mom got in a car accident on her way to see her ride. *1 month later* She moves in with her dad who she hasn't seen in 10 years since he left when she was 7 years old and she's hated him ever since. When she gets there she wants nothing to do with him. Still hurting from her mom's accident and thinking it was her fault her mom ended up dying and now to go on top of that she has to live with the dad that abandoned her all those years ago. She also lost interest in riding horses, too until she meets the three most snobby, rich kids named Madison, Bonnie, and Lucy, who think they are better than everyone when it comes to riding horses, but Rose sure doesn't think she is. Rose thinks she can beat them, so Rose challenges her and tells her that she can beat her, so they make a deal, but the one think Rose didn't think of was that she stopped ridding because of her mom's accident and that means she has to get back on a horse. At first she doesn't think she can until a beautiful grayish white mustang comes to her dad's farm, who Rose names later as Stardust. Rose finally realizes that she can do this alone, she's going to need help from her father to help her get back on and also have help from the new cute boy, Austin who's helping for his community service. At first he doesn't want to be there, but eventually finds a reason to stay. Rose has had a good life up until the day of the accident, but now she's got to face loss, and heartbreak, but she's got to learn to get back in the race. This story holds romance, family, trust, understanding the past, and conquering your fears. *Read to find out more, I know it may sound boring from the description, but it's really not.
