Mady Berlitz - A 16 year old German Girl that is very outspoken , angry, yet naive to the world around her. She has safe crystal blue eyes and Strawberry Red Hair. She Lives with her foster family after her mother died. Her Older Brother Russell is a Nazi in the war and Mady doesn't know where her older sister Carmen is. She has been living with the Steinway's for almost 2 years now. Set in 1939 in Berlin ,Germany her Foster family and her soon adopt a young Jewish boy , Meir to live in their Basement. They soon realize that Meir is able to soften their  german hearts as they realize how wonderful this so called Enemy is. Follow Mady and Meir as they find out they meaning of love and how war can change everything between them. ***** This is not a Book Thief fanfic but it is similar is some ways.
