Annalise DeMarco and Dustin Knight haven't had the best lives. In fact, some could say that their lives were worse than most people's. Full of loss, tragedy, and a little bit of luck that never seems to be on their side, they've both just about had enough.
Rendered mute through a car crash that cost her more than she would have ever dreamed, Annalise is always the odd one out. And she's the master at pretending that she doesn't care. She's completely alone and unwanted- or at least that's what she tells herself.
Having acquired a taste for standing out in a crowd, Dustin goes against what everyone tells him when he moves to Lee Valley and makes it his mission to befriend the mute girl, no matter the cost.
He never dreamed she'd be so much more than the quiet little girl in the corner.
