"Maybe you should start using that little brain of yours Jackson", I spat, hoping he would finally see that he doesn't love her. He never did. He took one step closer, his face only inches away, so that our breaths mingled together. "You don't know what you're talking about Evelyn, don't ever come near me or my girlfriend again", he replied calmly, but I could see the storm behind his eyes. And his hatred towards me was clearly visible. *** Evelyn moved back to her hometown after tragic events went down just a month ago. What she doesn't know is that her old high school changed, in more than one way but she intends to climb up the social latter and bring back what she once called a home. What she doesn't know is that not only bad boy Jackson now has a girlfriend but nobody seems to remember who she was. Though Evelyn is quick to connect the dots and realises that unraveling the past could hurt her in more than just one way, she is never going to give up her home. After all it was all she had left. Well, aside from the little boy she loves more than anything.

"You may be his world, but you're the only thing that ever felt like home to me." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Some people never get second chances. Lilah never thought she'd get one with her brother's best friend. She's quiet, kind, and inexperienced in love. He's tattoos, a bad reputation, and a trail of girls who never stay. They were once inseparable-until Jackson walked away without a word. Now, four years later, they're forced back together as reluctant project partners. The boy who once protected her has become cold, distant, and impossible to read. If he hates her, Lilah's determined to hate him right back. But the more secrets unravel, the harder it becomes to ignore the truth: the line between love and hate is paper-thin. And Jackson is still carrying the one secret that could destroy everything-especially her heart. AWARDS: #1 (out of 45.8k!) for #angstwithhappyending #1 (out of 1.62k) for #badboynextdoor
