"So here I am, bawling my eyes out on my bed. I've got mascara streaming down my face, my eyes are red and puffy, I can't breathe, and it feels like my heart is physically breaking inside. I'm looking at sad, crush quotes and, if you couldn't tell by that clue, this is all over a boy: a dumb, horrible, most caring, sweet, funny, and lovely boy. A guy who I am absolutely infatuated with but will never like me back. He hates me, and it all started because of a stupid dare,"

------------------------------

Lanabeth Valentine has never been one to turn down a dare, even if that means leaving a not so stellar first impression on the new guy at school. Entirely embarrassed, she plans to never speak about the event and avoid the new kid, Caleb Hunter, at all cost, which isn't easy when he's her next door neighbor and their families have weekly Friday night dinners together.
Caleb Hunter has never been one to follow the rules, and after Lanabeth leaves a very lasting first impression, Caleb has made it his mission in life to drive Lanabeth Valentine insane.
But as horrible as Caleb Hunter is, he may be exactly what Lanabeth needs at the moment.

Highest rank #27 in Teen Fiction. Written by @apricitys. _ _ _ "What is this?" He asked, not even bothering to look at the canvas in front of me. Instead, his eyes were locked in mine. I swallowed my saliva, chills running down my spine. I felt my palms getting sweaty as my legs nervously started bouncing up and down. Without giving me time to answer, he took a step closer to me, eyes still locked in mine. Each time he inched closer, I used my right foot to slowly push myself and the stool back. It seemed to be the only option to get away from him; until he forced his hands below the sides of my thighs, holding the stool in place. He released a soft chuckle as he eyed me from my eyes, down to my lips. "You're beautiful," he said. From his voice, I couldn't tell if he was being serious, or messing around. It sounded sincere, however there was a smirk on his face. The smirk that he always has on his face when he's found an amusing target. Then he averted his attentions back to my eyes. His expressions softened up the moment his eyes landed back on mine. His smirk disappeared. I cleared my throat and broke the eye contact. I looked down at my palms as I rubbed the sweat against my jeans, "What do you want, Landon?" I asked, almost whispering. I felt his hand brushing against my right cheek, as he tilts my chin up to look back at him. His messy brown hair, his light blue eyes and his pink soft lips were just centimeters from mine. I felt his breath lingering on the upper tip of my lip. In a panic, I pressed my palms against his chest and push him off. He stumbled back with a surprised look on his face. "Aubrey." _ _ _ Landon Carthy is an arrogant boy, who knowns to have absolutely no care in the world. Making girls suffer feels great to him. But what happens when a new girl in town becomes one of his victims? Will she allow him to walk upon her like all the other girls do?

She looks up at me, taking a step forward and smiling slightly, "How can I ever get hurt when I have you here to protect me?" "But you could have gotten hurt," I murmur softly, hanging my head and feeling my shoulders drop, the tension seeping from my body. "No. Stop," She cuts me off sternly but tenderly, "Don't talk like that, Reece. I'm okay, you're okay, we're okay," She speaks softly, reaching her hand up to gently brush her thumb over my cheek, just under the cut that's there. "We're okay," I repeat, taking a small step closer to her. She nods with a small smile, moving her hand down from my cheek and instead placing the palm of her hand on my chest, right over my heart. I know she can feel how fast my heart is beating. I just don't know why it's doing that. ~ Reece Carter is the bad boy of Northwood High. He smokes and he fights. They cheered and high-fived as I stood in front of them, glaring. "Better not be something bad!" I blurted, making them snap out of their cheering. They looked at me with a sinister smirk. (So there are some cringe moments in this book when I look back at it so if you go ahead and read this please ignore them😃) "So, what are the other names you chose for your kids?" he taunts me, the corner of his lips raising in an amused manner. I narrow my eyes at him, "I didn't name anymore." "So, you want just one kid?" "No." "Oh, so like 2 or 3 kids?" "Yeah like-" "Then you surely do have names." "No, I don't" "Oh, come on Skittles, you can tell me." I glare at him, "No and shut up." "Come on, we could use some of those in the future now, couldn't we?" A blush creeps up my cheeks as he says those words, but he just winks, like he didn't just talk about having kids with me one day. ------------- Brooklyn Taylor is your basic 17-year-old girl living a completely normal life.
