The Refuge

"Sean, Sean, where is she? Where's my sister?!" I panic, my eyes darting over the room.

"Calm down we'll find her." He takes me by the forearm and leads me out of the empty storage room. All I can think about is Demi, where could she be? What have they have done with my sister?

"What if we don't find her?"

"We'll find her. Don't say if-"

"But Sean--"

"I said we'll find her now stop worrying! God, have little faith in me." He yells squeezing my hand. I cringe and pull away from him. Seeing my reaction he takes a breath and gives me a gentle smile. His smile is the calm in the eye of the storm. "Stay strong Audrey, for Demi." I frown wondering if I can when strength doesn't come so easy anymore.

After the brutal death of her parents and being transported to The Refuge, Audrey's world gets a lot bigger. She and her sister, Demi, never expected to be teleported from their small rural home and thrust into the care of a secret organization under their Uncle Vince. There they learn the real truth about their parents, meet new family members, make new friends, and a couple enemies along the way. More importantly, they learn where they fit in in the fight against the corrupt government and the terrorists who raise havoc out on the streets and behind the scenes.

So, when a mission goes wrong, lies are uncovered, secrets are exposed, trust runs as cold as betrayal, and death comes in waves for Alyssa, nearly suffocating her.
