Call of the Void

Rose wanted to be noticed. All of her life she had lived in the shadow of her sisters. Until one day she wasn't. Everyone knew her name.

There exists a psychological phenomenon in which perfectly sane people, with no specific desire to die, find themselves faced with a steep cliff and experience a strong desire to leap. This phenomenon is so common, in fact the French have a term for it: L'appel du Vide or the Call of the Void.
