Our story focuses mainly on Steven Rosales, who lives and trains with his guardians, the Crystal Gems. The others respect him, but to an extent. While he is the son of Pink Diamond, their trusted leader, he's also half human, so they have to focus more on protecting him.
The Crystal Gems do have a mission on Earth, though. Several hundred years ago, Pink Diamond was assigned to save the planet from decay. Her and the Gems working with her quickly found that the inhabitants of Earth, humans, were the ones causing it's destruction.
Her plan was to simply dispose of the humans, but they fought back. Homeworld didn't have weapons to match the humans, who learned quickly and built weapons faster.
Not helping matters were the other three Diamonds, who were constantly trying to reason with Pink, to get her to take a more diplomatic route in the saving of Earth. She realized that she had to find a way to avoid them, and faked her own shattering.
Despite their grief, the Diamonds realized they had to apprehend the "Rose Quartz" before she could cause anymore problems.
Steven was born as a new disguise. As a half human, he could blend in with the other humans, gathering intel for the others. He was also a way for Pink to avoid her capture, as Homeworld didn't recognize Steven as the diabolical Rose Quartz.
He's a part of this now, and there's conflict around every corner.

Steven looks different compared to when he was kid, but after white diamond removed his gem he began to notice that something wasn't quite right so he went to the mirror and look at whats different and to his surprise, his hair was turning pink but thats not all he noticed, his Gem...it began to rotate to that of a diamond so he did the only thing he could think of, he went to the diamonds about this, so say they were shocked was an understatement, so white diamond began to explain that maybe when she removed his gem, the gem itself began to make changes because your human half can't take the diamond powers that are showing so it maybe changing you to be a half-Diamond, steven understood that his gem was only doing what it thought was protecting him. So he just let it happen even though it was hurting when his gem was rotating but white diamond said that it might take awhile for it to rotate. So he was just walking around in pain but doesn't let it affect him and he didn't tell the gems of the new changes yet. No one believed a human could stand against the Gem Empire-until one was given the power to change everything. Fenrir was one of the strangest members of the Crystal Gems. She was able to stand toe-to-toe against some of the toughest soldiers that Homeworld had to offer, but, despite her monstrous appearance-purple fur, blazing red wings, and horns that curved above her head-she was still human. Rose Quartz and Garnet rescued her from a Gem research facility, but even Garnet's future vision couldn't prepare them for the horrors Fenrir had endured. Her strength made her a formidable ally in the Gem War, and she quickly became an invaluable member of the Crystal Gems. She was their secret weapon, revered for her power. Unfortunately, none of them realized that they'd have to finish the fight without her. Near the end of the war, she was sent on a mission and disappeared, leaving her comrades to carry on without her. That is until several thousand years later when she appeared on a certain beach near a small town. As she reconnects with Garnet and the other Crystal Gems, she must confront the consequences of her absence, her volatile power, and the deep bond she shares with those she once fought beside. But once she meets Steven, naturally he slowly changes her mind. Should she stay with homeworld or rebel? I wrote this book like 2 years ago so the information is really outdated compared to where the show is currently, so please don't correct me on inconsistencies. I'm caught up with the show. I know. THIS STORY IS COMPLETED. (yayahhh) Okay, so I'm just... trying to write a fanfiction, okay? About Lapis Lazuli and Peridot and Jasper and... eh... what happened on that big hand-ship before the Crystal Gems crashed it. (This story ends near the end of the episode Jail Break) I'm keeping this child-friendly. None of what I consider cursing is in this book. And it's just friendship. And forgiveness. It might be a bit of a sad story, maybe... but anyway, it's not romantic love-stuff. And there might be a little violence because – y'know – Jasper's in the book. But not too bad. I try to keep the characters, well, in character, but I probably didn't succeed. Includes some of my own theories about Yellow Diamond and Homeworld; not everything in this story is canon. The cover art is by me. The pictures on the separate chapters are screenshots/gifs from the show itself. All characters in this book so far belong to Steven Universe, the TV show.
