Josephine's mother has always had high expectations from her 10 year old daughter to follow in her footsteps even though she claims she doesn't want to be come a dancer. She has always been bullied and teased because she couldn't dance as well as the other kids but what happens when beloved mommy has died from a car crash. 
Josephine Pierce then sets out to find her inner Josephine Baker, the dancer she was named after to become the person her mother always wanted her to be but along the way she meets Xavier, the best teenage dancer money can buy.
