The Standouts - A Critique Contest by PAULAPDX (Summer 2019 Edition) by paulapdx
6 parts Complete
🛑 - CLOSED until 2021. ***If you're interested in my critiques, you might want to check out my weekly newsletter for opportunities to get a personalized critique. https://paula.substack.com/p/coming-soon Does your work stand out in an overly-crowded landscape? Does your story & writing shine as far as: ★ - Concept ★ - Voice ★ - Storytelling The Standouts is a fun, but hopefully helpful contest that can give you a sense of whether your story resonates with someone who's got some experience under her belt. Great! But who are you to judge? Fair question. This is not to humble-brag, but I've been critiquing and have worked with story development for quite some time, and I've picked up a lot along the way. ☙ - As an Ambassador, I work on content projects. ☙ - If you look at my profile, you'll see everything I've published so far has managed to standout in one way or another, whether by leading me to become a Wattpad Star; or by winning a Watty (twice!); or by being picked as a Top 10 in major Wattpad contests (twice!); or being featured. All I'm saying is I'm no slouch. I'm not brilliant either. But I've got some experience around what can catch an agent, editor, or judge's eye, and I'd like to share that with the community. ☙ - In another lifetime, I used to work for HBO in Development and at ICM (the talent agency) in their writers' department which means I understand how professionals quickly gauge whether or not they'll take a closer look at a work and/or make an offer. This kind of insight can be helpful if you're planning to submit your work or even just want to stand out more here on Wattpad. ☙ - I used to provide critiques for three writers, all of them traditionally published. They seemed to value my insight. Read the RULES, LOGISTICS & PRIZES chapter for guidelines. All entries get a brief assessment of their first chapter, with winners getting more extensive critiques. Sound interesting? Give it a go! 😊
The King's Queen (Nightmare Sans x Reader) by ReapingZen
40 parts Complete Mature
PLEASE READ BEFORE GETTING INTO THE STORY Description: Your name is (Y/n) and you are originally from an au called Dreamtale! Your life hadn't been the easiest however, but you were quick to always move forward despite this... Before Nightmare had become corrupted, you were his best friend and lover. You kept him from his breaking point, you maintained his sanity and most importantly... returned his love. One thing that is definitely important about yourself is that you are a selective mute... And your only desired partner for conversation is the King of Negativity himself... But what will happen once the true evil lurking within your lover drowns out whatever light he had left? What will happen when you discover that the Nightmare you knew was replaced by a monster that still somehow holds love for you? "And even with the evil finally in control of Nightmare, if both his sinister side and his old self agreed on something- then it would always be his priority... They both love her." This is practically my first story that I have ever decided to share online. It is quite a terrifying experience for me, so I hope that anyone who decides to read this will enjoy it. Anyway, I should probably inform my readers about a few things. First off, my primary language is not English, however, I will still be making an effort with my grammar! Second off, I will try and update this as frequently as possible... Even though I can get somewhat shy or concerned about how my work goes. Otherwise, all you will need to know is this: (Y/n): Your name (F/n): Friend name (E/c): Eye color (H/l): Hair Length (H/c): Hair color (S/c): Skin color (F/c): Favorite color Some things I will likely determine for the reader, but what is posted above will be the basics. Please also note that this story may contain some content that would be best for more mature audiences. Also, the cover image belongs to me, please do not use it without permission or steal it.
On Jobs, by Peccator

Prompt: Finally, you will produce an 8-10 page final paper using the repository of data that you will collect as a class. The goal of the final paper is to synthesize course themes and materials with the original data collected from the "Workers of Atlanta" project to analyze the nature of work in the 21st century. At a minimum, your final paper should draw upon the two interviews you conducted, as well as that of four additional workers that your classmates interviewed. This is why you will be uploading your final transcriptions into Moodle - so that your other classmates may read them and thoughtfully integrate them into their final papers in ways that make sense. As you watch your classmates present during Week 16, think of whose interviews might be most interesting or tangentially related to yours to incorporate into your final paper. You are welcome to tackle this from any angle you want. Perhaps you want to compare and contrast the experiences of white-collar workers with that of blue-collar workers. If this is the case, your analyses should consider how the nature of work if similar or different for both white-collar and blue-collar workers using course materials, as well their own words and digital images. Perhaps you see differences in how white-collar women describe their experiences versus white-collar men. Or how Black interviewees describe their interactions with customers in service occupations compared to that of White interviewees. The options are endless, so long as your paper is engaged with the original data from the project and with course materials to make sense of these workers' varied experiences. You can, and are encouraged to refer to, the digital photographs within your analysis.

|5X FEATURED · SPOTLIGHT STORY| Learning to cope with death is one of the most challenging obstacles any of us have to face, especially if that death is unexpected. When your whole world has changed, what do you do to overcome grief and keep your loved one's memory alive? *** I never knew how much trauma can affect a person until after my older brother died unexpectedly on August 17th, 2021. I came out of the experience as not the Victoria I was used to, but the Victoria who now had a massive hole in her heart. I come from a long line of fighters. My family and I pulled off different strategies to help us move on from such a devastating death-strategies that I am going to share in this book. Sometimes, the best way to overcome grief is to write about it. After all, writing is an escape to a different world where I still have my Green Guardian. These pieces and pictures I'm going to share with you are not meant to depress anybody but to illustrate just how wonderful a person Matthew was. His story is sad, but it's a story of hope. His legacy remains in my heart today, and I want to share it because I know I'm not the only person who has lost somebody so unexpectedly. *** Ovid (on when his brother died): "iamque decem vitae frater geminaverat annos, cum perit, et coepi parte carere mei." I will be writing a lot of angst in here but occasionally some fluff. I will take requests (it saves me the pain of having to come up with stuff by myself). The only limits are no Remrom and no smut. I don't feel comfortable writing either of these. Anyways, I will put trigger warnings at the beginning of each chapter, but enjoy!
