In the country of Vetta, King Adam Kalina threw extravagant parties, but every party costs money. He knew if he raised taxes, King Adam would be overthrown, or worse, executed. The King decided to make an agreement with Lady Luella Malixa and have their oldest children marry. Peter Malixa and Princess Mari (pronounced Mary) Kalina were forced to marry. Peter loved Mari with all his heart, and was willing to do anything to earn her love back. Mari, however was deeply in love with the stable-hand for the Malixa family, Augustus Ephraim. When Peter finds out about Mari's love, he becomes obsessive. He stalks Mari's and Augustus' meetings. The more he stalks the two the more obsessive he becomes over Mari. Knowing that Mari would never fall for him, Peter uses black magic to turn her into a puppet.
