Cassidy Burns is a 17 yr old girl who plays javelin has a talent for javelin and would like to make a career out of it. But when her parents are caught up in a controversial murder and put on death row Cassidy runs away from home in a desperate attempt to find someone to help her. 

By chance, she manages to stumble across a coach-named Stephen- who happens to work at her old javelin club. Finding Cassidy in her state, beaten and bloody he takes her in gives her a place to stay and nurtures her.
