The novel started as a short story that was submitted to a writing contest (didn't win). It is very loosely based upon the Babylon 5 Universe (telepaths, shadows, plethora of different races, etc.). I still continued to think about the story and how it ended without a final resolution (though the story did have an ending, it left a lot of questions about the protagonist). Thanks to the obsession and compulsion I have with writing (it's a blessing and a curse) I decided to continue the story to final resolution. This is it.

A race called the Chitoxan came from an unknown area of space and declared war on the races making up the Earth-Alliance. More technically advanced than the races they encounter, the overwhelming power of the shadow vessels results in most battles ending in complete defeat for the Earth-Alliance. Only by massing fire on an individual shadow vessel or, in extremely desperate situations, committing suicide with a ship's reactor overload, can a shadow vessel be defeated. Earth and Earth-alliance colonies are slowly being conquered and occupied by Chitoxa. The humans on these occupied colonies are enslaved and forced to serve the Chitoxan's every need.

A young man volunteers for the Space Marines during the Chitoxan war. Upon induction, he discovers that he is 'blessed' with unique abilities. However, these abilities cause his life to be changed drastically and terribly. He is taken away and forced into a never-ending nightmare.

After a quick and violent encounter between Earth and Chitoxa, another Earth fleet is beaten and is almost wiped out. The surviving ship gets a lucky shot at an attacking shadow vessel, slicing off one of its appendages. The pain and shock of the loss does something to the human controller of the battle crab....

"I could feel it. The full strength of my brother's power. I didn't know how far away he was, but he definitely wasn't nearby. And yet still, he was able to reach me. Able to trinkle into my humans thoughts and fully capture the falcon's mind with absolute power. I knew my brother was scared. That fear was what made him reach out. He didn't know what Giovanna and Leona had in for him. Or worse: he did. Even though I knew by brother was afraid I also knew was a force to be reckoned with. And although Giovanna had him, he wasn't going down without a fight. He didn't have to tell me he would help us find him. I already knew. Any information he sent to me was important. My brother and I shared a connection like no other. We always had. We always would. " Part of Celeste is relieved that the people with the big guns have showed up to help, but another part of her is beginning to tear at the seams from the pressure she's endured. Although her upper most goal is to survive no matter what, when she finds out her brother has been captured by none other than Giovanna herself, she questions whether or not she can live with herself if she doesn't give it her all in trying to get him back. She knows getting him back might mean she will die trying, but maybe with the help of the powerful Unknowns that can control the elements, she can do it. However, Giovanna has a few tricks up her sleeve and the Unknowns soon will find out just how powerful she really is. Everything is going just as she wants it to. Nothing will stand in her way and nothing will escape her control... ATTENTION: THIS IS BOOK 5 Some *mild* marijuana use in this story and some sexual scenes/themes (nothing explicit).

A long, long time ago, the world was submerged with total darkness. Great spirits, terrible creatures, and fallen demons were in complete control. Spirit king Dyeus introduced duality; light would exist with darkness, and darkness would exist with light. The establishment of new positive elements leads to the defeat of Chaos. However, humankind misused freedom and created evil, leading Dyeus to vanish into oblivion, leaving her lover Andromeda devastated. Unable to control her anger towards humanity for sending away her lover, Andromeda unleashed Dread the Draken to strike havoc on humanity. When the Dread makes its landing in Edinburg, it defeats a hundred soldiers with just two breaths. It then sends a message to the council through Mirk that he has kidnapped Ula, Dyeus' daughter. The Dread demands that the council should send a fighter to the magical crystals Meriedem cave to fight him if they want Ula to stay alive. If the council fails, Dread will fulfill his desire to render humankind extinct. Why does the Dread ask to fight one man at a time while it can defeat a hundred fighters with only two breaths? Will the council agree to send a single soldier, or will they launch a full-scale war? Will Ula be saved, or what is her fate in the hands of the Dread? Will the people resume their everyday lives, or will the world go back to Chaos? To have a taste of the full experience, grab your copy and follow along with the unending series of uncertainty and unrest for humankind. Along the way, you will fall in love with some characters, but be prepared to dread others!

As the narrator, I'm tempted to simply write "Middle Finger" because that is essentially what you'll feel like I'm giving you in telling this story. However, for the sake of not being a complete dick, I'll write a little more than just a description of a disrespectful gesture. This story can aptly be described as crude and deranged. As you may have surmised, a crazy person will be telling this story, and the characters involved are indeed also all crazy in their own special ways. So, given this exercise in mental illness, the topics touched on (in no particular order) in this tale are destruction, death, superpowered wackos, torture, pain, loneliness, chaos, the will to survive, never giving up, giving up and not giving a shit, the desire to protect, failing to protect and causing more trouble than was already present, disappointing and/or abusive parental figures, bullies, unjust punishments, just punishments, racism, violent and usually superpowered fights, sci-fi gadgets, bitterness, sarcasm, twisted and demented comedy, control or lack thereof, weird and awkward high school drama, lies and brainwashing, alien aggression, moral ambiguity, unhinged villains, fantastical weapons, a piece of shit main character, conditional friendship, a fuck load of musical references, anger, fear, depression, extra-dimensional creatures, godly powers, various esoteric connections, pop culture references, and of course, in general, superpowers.

They want the new colony to be a cyborg colony in which they will rebuild their strength and practice their way of life. During the fighting, though, the starship is damaged, so that instead of travelling light years across space it ends up a billion years in the future, alongside a planet Earth that is near the end of its life. The cyborgs, momentarily defeated, leave the ship in a captured landing craft and go down to the planet, but before they go they sabotage the ship so that it is no longer able to support life. The crew have no choice but to follow them down to the planet where they have to fight not just the cyborgs but also forms of life a billion years more evolved than humans. Creatures that have grown tough and hardy in an attempt to cope with the increasingly harsh conditions that prevail there. As if things weren't bad enough, there is conflict among the ship's crew as they fight to decide which of them will be in charge and how they will meet the challenges facing them, and even if they survive all this they will still have to deal with the discovery of the ultimate fate that awaits all intelligent life in the universe...
