Harper, a sophomore at Greenhills High School, trusted Nate with those pictures. He said he deleted them. When he pressures her for more than just pictures, she can't do it and Nate breaks her heart. When school starts again in the Fall, Harper realizes Nate is now dating one of her friends, Piper. Just when she think life can't get any harder, the pictures she sent Nate go public. She has kept it together for so long, but her strength is gone. As tears slide down her face in her car, Charlie knocks on the window to see if she's okay.

Charlie, a senior, is the man of his house. His dad was killed in Afghanistan when he was a little boy, but a lot of people don't know that. The house in Denver held too many memories and his mom's therapist suggested a "fresh start." Despite Charlie's pleas to stay, his mom said no. Losing the house won't stop Charlie from remembering his dad. He restored and continues to ride his dad's Harley and keeps his hair long, just like his dad did when he was in high school. When he sees Harper crying in her car, something tells him to help her. He knocks on her window and his life changes forever.
