I gasped, sitting up only to be greeted by screams and fire. Looking around, nothing looked like where I just was.

Am I dead?

"Miss, you don't look like you are in the right place," a deep voice came from behind me. I turn around and come face to face with a gorgeous man that had a dangerous yet alluring aura to him.

"Who are you? Where am I?" I can feel panic rising in my stomach.

"I'm Hades, King of the Underworld. And you miss happen to land yourself right there."

Fallon Eose had always been the perfect person her whole life. She stood up to bullies throughout school, helped elderly cross the street, volunteered at animal shelters and orphanages. But even the nicest people have enemies.

When someone close to her kills her, she is accidentally sent to the Underworld. The exact opposite of where she should be. For a human, she should've lost her soul the moment she stepped into his Kingdom, but she doesn't.

Turns out she isn't as human as she thought she was.

"I've told you, Hades, I can not become your mistress." she sadly told him. She had always lived in her mother's shadow, and if she followed Hades, she would once again be living in another's shadow. Even though she loved him, she did not think she could stomach it. "I do not want you to be my mistress, Persephone, I want you to be my queen," he confessed to her. She snapped her head up to meet his eyes, searching for any sign he wanted to take his words back, but there was no remorse. And just like that, she fell ever so slightly more in love with him. "Your queen?" she asked, she had to be sure. Strangely the word had slid off her tongue gracefully as if it had belonged there. "Yes, become my queen," he told her once again, taking back the step she had taken. "Rule besides me as the goddess of spring and the Underworld." The words don't seem to make sense in her mind. --- Further description in the book --- #1 - MYTH RETELLING (as of October 1st, 2021) #1 - GODDESS OF SPRING (as of Nov 23rd, 2021) #1 - HADES TOWN (as of Jan 13th, 2022) #1 - HADES AND PERSEPHONE (as of Feb 9th, 2022) #1 - GREEK MYTHOLOGY (as of March 29th, 2022) #1 - QUEEN OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of April 4th, 2022) #1 - PERSEPHONE AND HADES (as of April 20th, 2022) #1 - GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of April 20th, 2022) #1 - KING OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of Dec 22, 2022) #2 - HECATE (as of Nov 4th, 2021) #2 - DEMETER (as of Jan 29th, 2022) #2 - KING AND QUEEN (as of Feb 21st, 2022) #2 - PERSEPHONE (as of Sep 20th, 2023) #3 - GREEK MYTH (as of May 6th, 2022) #4 - MYTH (as of April 21th, 2022) #4 - RETELLING (as of May 10th, 2022) #4 - UNDERWORLD (as of 26th, 2023) #6 - HADES (as of April 8th, 2022) #6 - DIVINE (as of May 6th, 2022) #41 - OLYMPIANS (as of Feb 9th, 2021) #55 - GREEK (as of May 8th, 2022) #61 - OLYMPUS (as of May 8th, 2022)

This is book 1 to the Underworld series. Once a century, a necromancer, known as a Summoner, is enslaved by the wealthiest families and used to keep death at bay. But after centuries pass with no Summoner, the dead remain buried. With the death of his daughter, Lord Eldridge begins the search for the Summoner, and miraculously succeeds. In exchange for her freedom, she agrees to help bring his daughter back to life. Unfortunately, her cruel father and King of the Underworld has different plans. Stuck between the living and dead, the Summoner must embark on a journey to defy her father, keep her freedom, and who better to help her than her newfound soulmate? ------------------ "Naughty, with your new husband just outside the door," he said. Eirene nodded, and smiled at him, looking over his shoulder at the weapons rack several feet away. The guard leaned in to kiss her, and she let him. He immediately began to lick the seam of her lips, and peppering kisses around her lips. She could admit he knew what he was doing, but bile rose in her throat and she longed to push him away. Instead she pulled him closer, and wrapped a leg around his waist. He groaned and lifted her up, carrying her further away from his escape and weapons. She pushed away from him and smirked. She backed up further and pulled a knife off of the wall. It's silver blade imprinted with the royal crest. She approached him and dragged the point of the knife over his jaw and down his neck. His breath hitched and his heart hammered. "I asked him for it. For the blood, the rust, for the sin. I didn't want the pearls other girls talked about, or the fine marble of palaces, or even the roses in the mouth of servants. I wanted pomegranates-- I wanted darkness I want him. So I grabbed my king and ran away to the land of death, where I reigned, and people whispered that I'd been dragged. I'll tell you I've changed. I'll tell you, the red on my lips isn't wine. I hope you've heard of horns, but that isn't half of it. Out of an entire kingdom, he kneels only to me, calls me Queen, calls me Mercy. Mama, Mama, I hope you get this. Know the bed is warm and our hearts are cold, know never have I been better than when I am here. Do not send flowers, we'll throw in the river. 'Flowers are for the dead' --'least that's what the mortals say. I'll come back when he bores me, but Mama, not today." --Daniella Michallen, "Persephone Speaks." The kidnapping of Persephone retold in which Hades didn't kidnap Persephone, but she fell into the Underworld and became Hades' queen.
