A blatant take on the Queer As Folk TV series that ran in the UK 1999-2000 & was remade in the USA 2000-2005. These series dealt with gay rights and social issues featuring storylines concerning homophobia, HIV & AIDS, Proposition 14 (USA version), violence/gay bashing, coming out, drug use, gay marriage & parental rights amongst others.

The original UK series was set in Manchester, the US version in Pittsburg, I have set this version in Sydney at the same time (Early 90's) and have kept the original music that was first used in the UK version and re-used in the US version. I've renamed the characters (obviously) and also place names etc to suit the change in city. I've also added in some Australian-ness to suit the location. If you haven't seen the TV series, the UK version was ground breaking for it's time, nothing like it had been seen before and it sent controversial waves rippling which Showtime picked up on. They re-made it for a US audience, using nearly the exact same script before carrying it on and expanding it into 5 series. I highly recommend you watch if you can! It also meant that he would've had to hangout with the jocks, who he didn't like at all. Now, due to his uni class schedule, he would be free of the majority of the jocks and hopefully frat boys. They were bullies and he didn't want to have to be associated with any of them. He would make sure of that. Michael Lives on Luke's uncle's ranch in a rural part of New south Whales, just outside of Sydney's city and bordering the Blue Mountains region. Michael's Parents died when he was 15 leading to him being taken in by a long time family friend. Luke is a famous singer who moved to New York city, from Sydney with his parents when he was 14 to peruse a music career. Luke gets mixed up in a drug scandal and his parents decide to send him home to Australia to spend the summer working on his uncle's horse ranch. Mikey acts as if he doesn't know who Luke is- of course he does, it's not like he's been living under a rock for the past 7 years.-but really Michael couldn't care less that he is famous. Luke doesn't want to be on a "stupid smelly farm" and is finding it hard to cope without reception, Friends, fans and drugs. Hey Guys, So management thought this would be a good idea. A stupid idea At first it was supposed to be fun, an insight to our lives, an extra to go with the dvd but then they said it would help if we wrote it ALL down. Pfft what do they know So that's what we did, we took time out during and after the tour to put together the best and worst parts of our days.
