Due to the recent tragedy in Japan, I wrote this story of a young girl named Kaneyama Mioriko. I hope it shows that there is still a little hope, that families can still be reuntied, and that one rescue can make all the difference in a person's life.

In World War Two, there was a small girl, living in a small house in London. She was 8 years old and didn't understand much about what was going on, all she knew is that her dad and her brother both had to leave to fight in the war. The only one that she had left was her mom, which was suffering from depression and couldn't really help her get through the hard times. As Elizabeth, the little girl, began to grow up, her mom died, her bother and her dad never showed up again at her house, which left her completely alone. She lost her house, she lost her family and all that she had left was herself. One day, at 16 years old, when she was walking down the street, she suddenly heard gunshots and all hell broke loose in front of her eyes. She was shocked, she didn't know what to do, since she thought that the war was over. However, one guy that was also part of the military, saw her. He looked around her age, and when he saw her standing there without moving, he saved her. This is the story about young love. About the girl who lost everything and about a guy who all he ever wants is for her to have a life again.Complete

Mieko and the Fifth Treasure
When the bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, Mieko's nearby village was turned into ruins, and her hand was badly injured. Mieko loves to do calligraphy more than anything, but now she can barely hold a paintbrush. And she feels as if she has lost something that she can't paint without-the legendary fifth treasure, beauty in the heart. Then she is sent to live with her grandparents and must go to a new school. But Mieko is brave and eventually learns that time and patience can help with many things, and may even help her find the fifth treasure.Complete

I love the beginnings of stories. Whether it be a book or a movie, I enjoy the opening scenes the most. Because they hold all the promises of what is to come; unburdened by commitment or baggage.
