Maybe he would've chosen Juvie if he realised just what was waiting for him over the Atlantic ocean, in the form of a hot priest who seemed to be so far in the closet he could've been in Narnia.

When he falls deeply in love with the school's literal demon. Gerard Way. Even though he acts tough and strong on the outside, he has a medical problem that could possibly kill him. No one knows except his divorced mother and his brother. So when he spills his heart out to Frank, he just hopes that he'll take it the right way.
