Ever since Hiccup's mom died, his father has neglected and abused him. His self-esteem is low and he's starting to fall into depression. He has friends at school, but he doesn't know that they are just using him for popularity, because he's the mayor's son. Hiccup never felt any family or friendly love, but that's all he ever wanted to feel. . . Love.

Astrid lost her parents when she was just 2 years old, but she didn't
understand anything yet. Her uncle took her in after her parents funeral. Astrid had a pretty good childhood. Her Uncle was so busy with his job and trying to save money to pay the bills. She may have felt loved by her Uncle, but she hasn't felt any true love. She wants a person that truly loves her and she wants to spend the rest of her life with them. That's all she ever wanted.
