It's funny how sometimes you can be dreaming and well aware that what Dream You is about to do is completely asinine. Especially if you have had the dream before. Look both ways before crossing that street! No, don't go into the room at the end of the hall! No, don't accept help from the Tinkerbelle-esque fae flittering around the room! Don't look behind you! Never look behind you! But unfortunately sometimes Dream You doesn't care. Dream You does whatever they want, motivated by your subconscious desires and ready to wreck havoc as you sleep. Where the Sleeping Mind Wanders is a compilation of dreams, short stories and recollected imaginings. Enter the slumbering mind of a writer if you dare! P.S. The great thing is that none of the stories are connected and therefore each short story is its own schpeel and you can start anywhere. Current word count: 7,291

Fear

All I've ever known is fear, and a strange dream...a reoccurring nightmare, where someone is hunting me, chasing me, never gaining or receding, in a strange place where everything is bathed in an orange hue. I live in a grey world where everyone is the same....if anyone finds out I'm not 'normal', it will mean a trip to the 'mind doctor, who I fear more than the nightmares. I could lose what little independence I have...it's all I own, all I am. Until one day, the dream finds me... I wake from the latest nightmare, and find a note warning of danger, and that 'they' are coming. When I wake and hear someone speaking - that I can't see, but can feel...who tells me that I am not who I think I am....I have nowhere to run... Should I listen? Wait? Or submit to the Mind Doctor again? What would you do? Comments invited. This is my first Wattpad published story. Is it good? Is it bad? Could I do better? Please comment and vote if you liked it. Thank you
