"Ava, you have to be quiet! They'll hear you-"

Tears started to spill from my eyes, blending in with the rain that dripped down my face. I shouldn't have come here. The last time I followed someone I made accidentally noise and got them killed. I had to get away from Jaxon.

I turned on my heel, ready to run to, but Jaxon grabbed my wrist. "Let go" I choked, "I have to leave. You're in danger-"

The next thing I knew, his lips crashed onto mine. His arms wrapped around my body, pulling tightly to his chest.

"Stop it" I sobbed, unable to control my trembling. "Why are you doing this? Let me go-"

"I had to get you quiet" he murmured. "Please Ava. You have to try to calm down. I understand you're scared right now, but you have to trust me. We're going to get home safely. Stay with me a few more minutes, and then we'll get the f*ck out of here. I promise."

A little about Ava: She has made the long move from Detroit, Michigan to California to escape her gruesome past. She moves in with her older sister, and is ready to start her junior year of high school. Despite the demons she carries, she holds onto hope for a bright future.

A little about Jaxon: he's 17, and Oceanview High's resident bad boy. He comes from the Marvel family, a family of cold-hearted millionaires who don't seem to care much about their kids. He's also got a secret only few know, he's a dangerous member, and street racer, for the L.A. gang: Crimson Blaze.

Started: 11/6/2020 Completed: 12/26/2020 "I hope you remember what I said, Atlas," he said. He went back to his firm tone of voice now that we were alone. He glanced up at me as he packed three pairs of jeans into the bag. I was too busy trying to figure out how the hell I had three brothers who suddenly wanted custody of me after all these years of me being in foster care that I didn't even remember what Mr. Harris had told me last night, but it clicked. He had told me those things because he knew that I was leaving him today. "You will never be loved by them if they find out what you are, what you've done. And if they do find out, I'm sure they'll send you right back here to me where you belong," he said calmly as he placed the rest of my turtlenecks next to the jeans and lastly put in a coat. He zipped the bag that he had apparently finished packing for me and I looked around the room. "Let's go," he said firmly holding the bag in his hand as he walked out of my room. I didn't know if I should be happy or scared to be leaving Mr. Harris. I never imagined that I would be leaving him. Ever. He had told me last year on my birthday that he was going to marry me when I turned 18 and aged out of the system. *** For Atlas Bishop, moving in with three older brothers she never knew she had meant a chance at freedom she believed she didn't deserve. He's determined to keep his anger issues in check and his illegal activities at bay to keep her that way. But, innocence has a dark side that lies and cheats, and Ace learns his lesson the hard way.

Book #2 in The Fire series SELENE BLAZE "You've got the wrong girl." I say as I continue to take a step backward. He stepped forward not letting me get away. "I know her you've seen her, so you're gonna tell her something for me." Jaxon says taking an extra step forward and I immediately step backward again. I can't let him get close to me. It's been years, but for some reason, he still scared the hell out of me. "What if I say no? What if I don't tell her?" I ask as I let out a shaky breath. "Oh, you're going to tell her." Jaxon says taking another step forward as I take one back, but my back meets a wall. "You tell her, that if I ever see her again, I'll kill her." "What did she ever do to you?" I growl, suddenly thankful for the wig on my head, covering my real hair. "She lived." Jaxon hisses and I knew what he was talking about. He wishes my sister had survived instead of me. Well, he can just join the club, he's not the only one. I swallow as he leans closer. "Do you think she'll understand?" I slowly nod. "She'll understand." I say. "Good." He smiles leaning back. "Also tell her to stay away from the strip. She doesn't deserve to race." "She'll never agree to that." I blurt out. It was the truth, I would never agree to that. "I guess you better find a way to convince her." Jaxon says. "Or your heads on the line." "Is there a problem here?" Wesley asks coming towards us. "No." Jaxon smiles before patting my shoulder roughly. "Besides, I was just leaving." He walks away leaving me alone with Wesley. "Are you okay?" He asks and I look at him. I scoff and walk away. I may be afraid of Jaxon, but Wesley doesn't scare me. And after everything that's happened, I hated Wesley.
