She struggles to understand why she of all people is put to lead the team's quest... and so do the others. Harper Magdalena has known she could shift into a bird since the age of five when she fell off the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. She'd never told a soul until one August day when a boy accidentally stumbled upon her shifting. When she's offered a place at Vale, she's amazed to learn she isn't as different as she thought. Lance Taylor is an arrogant boy who's known it was his destiny to go to Vale since he was able to walk. He's anxiously awaited the day of being assigned a team and quest.
