Promises of the forgotten

Italia was born in a world where if you fell in love you would relinquish part of your soul, if someone someone fell in love with you they would give you part of their soul when you ran out of soul you died. The world knew of two immortals- one who never fell in love and one who made people fall in love with them.

Italia was the immortal that never fell in love, cold and distant she lead a group of hero's known as Torquem Vita. For thousands of years the group continued on again and again always lead by
Italia. When the 15,467 group comes everything changes and for the first time in forever Italia might feel something besides hate, anger and betrayal.

"To the union of Torquem Vita!" Germany shouted, raising his mug of bear to the starry sky. "To the union!" We echoed.

A chorus of laughs sprang from our mouths as Europe stumbled around already drunk. I grinned and laughed along as she drunkenly cursed us out.

"Italia!" Brazil called, I smiled my heart was warm and full with the group of Torquem Vita, "Be right there!" I replied.

Jogging over I plopped onto the log next to him. He looked at me suddenly serious, "Italia, no matter what happens keep this group running." Nodding curiously he saw the question in my eyes. "Remember no matter what happens keep this group running and don't forget..." he grabbed my hand and squeezed it tight. "We never wanted this to happen." Before I could question him he left for his tent and disappeared.

I woke up to nothing, where the night before there had been a campfire, tents and food stocked it was now an empty and barren hill. Everything gone, the tents packed, no where in sight and my friends nowhere to be seen, as I denied what was obvious my mind went back to what Brazil had said the night before "We never wanted this." What did that mean?

A tear slipped from my eye, it was simply an excuse wasn't it? My heart hardened and I knew that my heart would never break again, because you can't break something you don't have.
