At age 14, Betty was impregnated. Her mother kicked her out of the house with nothing but a small bag and the clothes on her back. She somehow makes it to Riverdale, where a man named FP Jones takes her in. He had a son named Jughead and they become fast friends. In no time, they've become more than just friends. Soon, she accidentally gets pregnant again. The pregnancy was especially hard on her and she has a low chance of living. She prays that her-and the baby- can make it out of this sticky predicament unscathed.

When the question about their past selves is prompted by the kids, FP and Alice must think about how differently things could have been if they were still the same kids they once were back in high school.

However, when Hal finds out she has been repeatedly cheating on him, he destroys the one thing that means the most to her, the one thing that connects her to her son. He kills her garden. And as if faith decided it, her high school lover and real father of Charles stands in her floral shop soon after, when they haven't seen each other since they parted ways at barely eighteen years old.
