When defining 'normal' most people don't automatically think of 6 legged people that can breathe fire and shoot lasers out of their eyes. Well, unless you're talking about a favorite fantasy novel. These otherworldly abilities are a simple fact of life in Kufihliwe ihlathi, a small province behind Cariepdam in South Africa. It means a hidden forest. Here, people from all over Africa with these different fantasy like attributes are welcomed and integrated no matter the strangeness of their ability. Very little people know about us. Yet, this is home for so many.

Centuries ago this was a great planet, now it's a husky shadow of its former beauty. Though the remnants of its former magic still linger it was destroyed by power hungry scientists. More tests to make more technology to go further, faster more this more that. Boom It all went up in flames, radiation spilled out into South America from the global power station in Brazil. The nuclear plant 15 times that of Chernobyl blew its top. The initial explosion flattened Brazil and the shockwaves were felt from the Florida keys. But the thing that truly ruined the world was the nuclear fallout. it rained down everywhere turning the world into a desolate wasteland deserts for miles and miles. Now you live in districts to survive, but what's the good in just being a number. Why would you look forward to a future of infant nothing, can you run from that? Where would you go? Where have the people who have escaped gone? Is that a future? What if there's someone who got left behind? BOOK ONE: Having enough courage to run through the woods and away from the people who convinced me they were saving me was not how I believed I'd spend my day. Yet, there I went escaping from the only place I knew existed in the world. Being held captive was too much for me, especially when these people wouldn't tell me who they were or even who I was. Once I was in the forest turning back was never an option, so I put it in my head that I'd keep walking until I found a civilization or a nice paved road that would lead to safety. But that never happened because the forest has a force living through it. Believing that the forest held something strange was the easy part but experiencing it myself was something totally different. I didn't expect anything normal but I didn't expect to be completly engulfed into the forest. I was led by an unknown presence that made me truly believe it was a living being, and in fact it is. I was innocent then, but now I know that anything can be hidden under a small platform in the woods with a secret bigger than the world itself. I was given life that day, until it all ended months later; the day I took my last breath.Complete
