There was nothing special or outstanding about Gage Docherty. Even though he was indescribably handsome, Gage made sure he did everything in his power to prevent anyone from focusing too much attention on him.

With fiery red hair pulled back and braided into a long ponytail down his back, most people considered him to be just another 'red-neck'. Most of the time he wore shades to hide the crystal-green eyes that shifted and morphed into different colors depending on his mood. Gage hid in plain sight because he neither wanted anyone's attention nor did he desire to stand out in any way.

On the night, the mechanic stopped by a local convenience store over on the black folks' side of town to buy a pack of cigarettes, four young white men run out of the establishment nearly knocking Gage down as he enters the door.
