The party was quite nice. The school year had just started. But there was too much alcohol, too many problems, and a unfortunate accident that would kill 5 kids, leaving many in grief. Cheating happened, death happened, rape happened, and brought people closer to each other than they've ever been. People mourn every time they see the sunset, people can't bring themselves to get into an Uber. At the end of the day they're just young, and some will stay young forever. There are so many things that she wants to say to him, so many things that she'd already said aloud and that she'd talked herself into saying to make sure he knew how much he'd hurt her, how much he was still hurting her. But it was pointless. He doesn't want to listen and he hardly even cares. She's just wasting her breath like he's wasting her time.
