Xanthes is not, to say the least. He has a heart melting smile, but as far as Adonia can see, that's all he has!

That's why it's such a surprise when, after the Choosing Test, Adonia and Xanthes end up as the only two people from their neighborhood going to the Government Sector.

That's also why, when Adonia messes up big time and needs help, she turns not to her Chosen, Bazil, but to stubborn, pig-headed Xanthes.

Evelyn Sheer and the researchers are trying to create a genetic modification that enables humans to photosynthesize. Once in the facility, Evita is tagged as a test subject and loses all say over what happens to her body. She has to escape. By the time she comes up with a plan there is only one problem. Evita isn't ready to leave.
