This is an online and open edition of my Independent Study Project for my 2018 Biology class. I told my teacher I'd post it alongside the copy I hand in.
The year is 2110. Most of Mid and Southern North America is made up of big cities and farmland. Ellia Ryker is an Anthrozoologist currently studying the interactions between humans and birds so she travels up north, where there is one of the largest and only aviary populations left. Along her journey she gets caught up in an apparent murder case that appears to involve a large bird of prey that few people have seen before: the Raptor Jay.
This case, leaving police confused and residents of the small town terrified, brings together Canada's best Wildlife Forensic Scientist, Dr Marcus Talbot and new graduate Ellia to solve one of the strangest deaths ever seen.

50 Million Years from Now
I'm not the first one to write about speculative zoology, I was inspired by many books and tv shows which introduced the idea to me. Those which helped me the most with this project were H.G. Wells' Time Machine and Dougal Dixon's After Man. As well, I should mention the documentary style tv episodes The Future is Wild. 24 Hours In The Past (Volume 1)
I'm back with a new book. This time I'm going to show you the many amazing, frightening and sometimes downright strange species that were lost to time. There are so many creatures that once roamed planet Earth, our own little oasis in the vast expanse of the desert we call the cosmos. But what were these creatures like? What would their everyday lives have been like? Well I'm here to answer those questions. In every episode we'll take a look at a day in the life of one of these creatures. Whether it be the apex predator of its environment or a small creature at the bottom of the food chain, there's never a dull moment in the lives of these amazing creatures. Note: As time passes, there's a strong possibility that my book will becomes less accurate as we discover more and more about Earth's past. But for now my book will provide the currently most accurate information we have. Also some of the creatures that are depicted in the episodes may not have been discovered in the exact location that this story takes place in, but rather in the areas around it. This is the first volume of a series I'm making, every book/season will contain 12 episodes, after that I'll take a break before continuing this prehistoric saga. The Case of The Rippler
(Kind of bad cover art is made by me) "Didn't think this right, did you, Skullram?" "Why'd you go out and do all of this, The Rippler? Just tell me!" There had been missing cases happening around a small city in Maine, Eros, in which twenty-five missing cases had resulted into murder, all bodies being found, twisted in ways, covered in ink and some sort of rope that had materialized similar to octopus tentacles, wrapped around each individual body. The detectives working on the unexpected murders just concluded that everyone just dies from a new species of an animal, but in reality, it's something way different. It's caused by a very abnormal and twisted looking monster by the name of 'The Rippler.' There was only one group, the Numbskulls, that had been brave enough to even try and defeat 'The Rippler' as they had figured clues along the way for solving the murder cases. See Phillip 'Skullram' Lionel, the leader of 'Numbskulls', and his group along the troubles in both high school and other places, mainly their meeting spots as conflicts between members nearly take it a bit too far...
Prehistoric Safari
The genesis for this story was actually a computer program: a Dorling Kindersley product called "3D Dinosaur Hunter". Disc two allows you to wander around six 3D environments, interacting with dinosaurs. Once, I took several pictures in each of the six sections -- I can't remember if it was with the standard print screen option or if the program has a built-in snapshot feature. And at first, that's all it was: just an album of pictures from the program. Then I hit on the idea to write a story around those pictures. And that's how this story developed: every event was just written to try and justify one of the pictures. Naturally, I inserted the relevant pictures into the document at the proper places, and I've decided to do the same thing here. The story is about a photographer sent back to dinosaur times in order to test a newly invented time machine. I first wrote it in 2005, and there's only so much I could edit in the intervening years due to the limits set by the source program. For example, the program was made before it was concluded that raptors had feathers, so unfortunately the outdated image is still present here. Also, the program erroneously has Brachiosaurus rear up on its hind legs to reach higher branches; in real life, it was too front-heavy to do that. But, regardless of those few inaccuracies, I hope you enjoy it.Concluída
