"If a writer falls in love with you, you can never die."

After her parents' divorce and before she moves out of her childhood home, Kate Walker discovers a notebook of stories in her attic - all seemingly based around the same two people. She doesn't know who wrote them, or who they're about, but they certainly interest her, at least more than packing for the move. As she progresses through the increasingly romantic entries in the notebook, she also tries to navigate her own life. Unfortunately for her, it is no romance novel.
