After Rin had died, Obito did not believe in a god. A god would have stopped Rin's heart from being pierced by a chidori, would prevent the tragedy of war. When he saw Kaguya, however, he thought gods were selfish and cruel. And when he was born into a world where gods abandoned their children for dead, he knew he was right.
