But one day that kindness brought him in to a unknown future 

Keith was walking down a street after helping out a foreigner with directions, to see a kid on the floor being beat up and about to be stabbed. Keith ran there as fast as he could and kicked down the guy with the knife and pushed away the other thug who was kicking the kid.
