By his seventeenth birthday, Gabriel Adams Junior has decided that he frowns far too often. He's also decided that he is a cynic, because he hates his parents for giving him such an unoriginal name; he hates his brother for being a genius; above all, he hates that he has lived in Minnesota for a month and has yet to enjoy one thing about the place.
And then he meets Hemera O'Mally, a self-labeled optimist. At first, naturally, he hates her. Then one day she inquires, "Do you skate?" to which he responds, "You mean, like, on roller blades?" and she proceeds to clarify, "No, I mean on ice."

NOTE: The story contains mature actions and issues. It tells about the love between two young men. The story is NOT edited, but I have begun with that, so please read the Author's Note CAREFULLY, thank you. How do fire and ice combine together? Meet Travis Henderson, sort of new student, blunt to extreme when he can't keep his tongue on a leash, extravagant, vain and cocky as a cat and afraid of nothing. Well, almost. Although with his looks it's very difficult to walk-by unnoticed, he wants to keep a low profile and prefers to stay alone and the company of his I-pod only. Oh, did we mention he is gay? Proud and loud, he would say. Travis knows no half measures when it comes to feelings; he feels a fire burning inside him and has to let it out. Travis must have the object of his interest no matter what, but fire can really burn and hurt you, even if you are its master. And what happens when you realize who you want is the only man impossible to have? Yes, Travis is like a burning and shining ball of fire. Meet Aleksandr Lebedev, half Russian half American, star of the ice-hockey school team. Being 6′3″ tall with a fierce and dangerously annoyed glare make him one of the most feared guys in school. And he likes to be feared by useless and annoying people, since he doesn't appreciate to be involved in others' business at all. Sasha is like the solid and cold ice on which he skates, and only his family and closest friends have a place in his glacial world and heart. That's all you will ever get from Aleksandr and mind well not to annoy him. There is ice in his veins and nothing else. How will it turn out to bump into a constant magnet for trouble? How fire and ice combine together? Will the cold ice extinguish the fire or will the burning and unpredictable fire melt the ice?

"The answer is 'A,'" I say, keeping my voice light and kind. Carter snorts from beside me. "No, it's 'C.'" Bingo. I was hoping he'd say that. "The question clearly asks you to round to the nearest tenth. If I'm not mistaken, which I don't believe I am, answer 'C' has two decimal places." I smirk as his mouth twitches into a frown. We're still standing. "Very well, Miss. Jones," Mr. Neilson says, projecting another question. "I can't stand you," Carter mumbles in my ear. I turn my head towards him, pressing my lips against his ear. "Then sit the fuck down, Conners," I whisper. "I'm winning." ... Fairridge Prep is for the best of the best. Sadie Jones, stubborn and clever, is set on being the best. Returning from winter break feeling, more so than ever, that she has stolen her sister's dream, Sadie is determined to spend the rest of Junior year proving that she deserves everything she's worked towards. Carter Conners, notorious flirt (only when it comes to Sadie), will do anything it takes to not spend the rest of his life working at his parents' diner. Whether it's running for the track team or debating, Carter is always competing, and competing to win. Sadie and Carter have been rivals since freshman year, constantly bickering and trying to best each other. But when the rivals are thrown into a week long debate competition that, along with getting the top spot on the Principal's List, will guarantee one of them the title of Valedictorian next year, they find themselves enjoying each other's company more than they would've ever expected. And it leaves them wondering: "Do we really hate each other?"

"I'd give it all up for you, Avery," Finn urges. His hands are gripping onto my cheeks and I don't know why I'm letting him get so close to me when I told myself I wouldn't let this happen. All I know is that I could cry at his touch. I miss him so much. "The job, the team, everything," he continues. I swallow the lump in my throat as my eyes dart between his. He seems so desperate and I want to sock myself in the jaw when I'm tempted to wipe the single tear that fell to his cheek. "Because I've seen what it's like to live without you. I know what it's like to see you with someone else, and nothing is worth that. Not even the NHL." The sequel to Ice.
