Our world turned its back on equality. Anyone with an ethnic minority background was sent to live in the slums. These people are called Dregs.
Anyone pure English lives the high life and calls themselves the Pures.
The Dregs formed a theatre troupe to entertain, go on tour around the country and the star attraction is Elizabeth.
Max visits the theatre when it reaches London. He falls under the spell of Elizabeth and yearns to be with her.
The world grows more dangerous and Max wants to keep Elizabeth safe from harm. Can these teenagers work together to escape the shackles of their very different lives?
