Part 1: Maya Castillo is approached by two strange men who need her help. She joins their ragtag group where she meets a blonde haired boy who seems to have taken a liking to her. When they are attacked and lose two of their members they have to train to work as a team. Can they stop world war three before it starts? And will Maya actually fall in love? Part 2: Maya and Alex join the war. They make friends, enemies, and battle not only the opposing side, but prejudices against mutants. When they finally leave they try to find some sense of normalcy in a world that isn't mutant friendly. What will they lose? What will they gain? Part 3: When Alex's brother starts showing signs of powers they volunteer to take him to Charles' school. When they arrive the pair find themselves caught up in the latest battle to save the world from a power hungry mutant. What is Maya hiding? And will they both live to see the end of the battle?
