I look at Jason who has sadness, disbelief, despair, guilt, and loneliness mixed in one on his face. I tilt my head at him. Why does he feel guilty? It's not his fault that thy are here. It's mine. But why is he angry? "Jason did you tell Brook?" He shakes his head, not meeting my gaze. I sigh. "Please tell Blake and Brook While I'm Gone." Jason's eyes snap up to mine. "Gone? Where are you going? Aren't you coming back?" He says with panic in his voice. I look at my friends one by one. "Thirty seconds." It's summer - the end of my first year of college. And I am home again, more than a little worse for the wear. College hadn't gone how I had expected it to go. After two years of the grind to get in, I thought I would find the kind of magic I saw in American high school movies, which I had been denied of in school - late nights, parties, wild adventures with whacky best friends, romance.... everything one is told is supposed to happen in one's teenage years. After two years of watching my classmates grow up and enter this world, I thought it was my turn, now. I thought my college life would be like a coming-of-age movie. But in reality? It wouldn't make a good story, of any kind - not even a sad one. The only thing I found were shiftless friends, stifling academic pressure and heartbreak. So now I was home - a little bruised, a little broken. A few dreams in shards around my feet. Turns out, I needn't have worried. The summer that followed changed my life. Sequel to Flawless In His Eyes. *:*:*:*:* Losing someone you love hurts. I'm confident in my manhood to admit that it's painful and yeah, I suck at grieving. So what? The only problem with grieving, is that it's only acceptable when said loved one died. I lost her because she left. By choice. Now that... that was a stab through the chest and we only have Dora the explorer band-aids in the first aid kit. It's clear why I'm still pretty messed up over our impromptu break-up.
