The Golden 30 Last Seconds "0 minutes and 59 seconds." I say out loud. They all look at me, confused. "That's how long I have before they come. I'm sorry I didn't ell you earlier, Brook and Blake." I look at Jason who has sadness, disbelief, despair, guilt, and loneliness mixed in one on his face. I tilt my head at him. Why does he feel guilty? It's not his fault that thy are here. It's mine. But why is he angry? "Jason did you tell Brook?" He shakes his head, not meeting my gaze. I sigh. "Please tell Blake and Brook While I'm Gone." Jason's eyes snap up to mine. "Gone? Where are you going? Aren't you coming back?" He says with panic in his voice. I look at my friends one by one. "Thirty seconds." It's summer - the end of my first year of college. And I am home again, more than a little worse for the wear. College hadn't gone how I had expected it to go. After two years of the grind to get in, I thought I would find the kind of magic I saw in American high school movies, which I had been denied of in school - late nights, parties, wild adventures with whacky best friends, romance.... everything one is told is supposed to happen in one's teenage years. After two years of watching my classmates grow up and enter this world, I thought it was my turn, now. I thought my college life would be like a coming-of-age movie. But in reality? It wouldn't make a good story, of any kind - not even a sad one. The only thing I found were shiftless friends, stifling academic pressure and heartbreak. So now I was home - a little bruised, a little broken. A few dreams in shards around my feet. Turns out, I needn't have worried. The summer that followed changed my life. Sequel to Flawless In His Eyes. *:*:*:*:* Losing someone you love hurts. I'm confident in my manhood to admit that it's painful and yeah, I suck at grieving. So what? The only problem with grieving, is that it's only acceptable when said loved one died. I lost her because she left. By choice. Now that... that was a stab through the chest and we only have Dora the explorer band-aids in the first aid kit. It's clear why I'm still pretty messed up over our impromptu break-up. I have nothing to grieve. Bourbon taste better than tears anyway. *:*:*:*:* One phone call. One French guy named Phillip. One coffee as black as my soul. The formula. Here lies a series of short stories written out of pure boredom or when ideas I conjure up don't fit nor expand into any bigger story. As I'll be too burdened with college and personal life, I won't be continuing Hollow Ocean for the time being as I would need to revise it. However, I took the time to make some short stories that I oftentimes use as submissions for my finals. Should the need arise, I'm not opposed to writing a second collection.

They met as kids-classmates until the fourth grade-where he had a quiet crush on her before she transferred schools. Years later, fate brought them back together in high school. What started as friendship quickly turned into something deeper, and for four years, they were inseparable. They had plans, dreams, and a love that felt unshakable. Until the day she broke up with him and disappeared from his life without a single explanation. Years passed, but the unanswered questions never left him. Neither did the feelings. He tried to move on, to forget, but no one ever came close to being what she was to him. And just when he thought he'd finally buried the past, she came back-this time, as his fiancée in a marriage neither of them chose. She tells herself it's just duty. He tells himself he's over it. But the past lingers between them, unspoken and unresolved. The tension simmers, the familiarity remains, and despite everything, so does the pull between them. He fell first. And even after all these years, he never truly stopped. She thought walking away once was hard-she never imagined falling again would be even harder.
