In a dog eats dog world, the demons had won the war against the humans and ruled over the land. To demons, only the strong mattered and humans were at the bottom of the totem pole. Illara was born with dark red hair and long horns and she was trained since young to become the ultimate weapon. She was adopted by the queen as a baby, her origins unknown. But the king saw opportunity and treated her as a weapon. He waged war on other kingdoms and won. Illara grew tired of being used and abused by the king, her "sister" and just about everyone else who believed the rumors. She secretly plotted her revenge against all those who had wronged her and try and find her true family and maybe even her true love? She became known as Akantha, the rose thorn warrior and the strongest around.

A retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth, a story of fate, the struggle for power, and love found in the most unexpected places. ***** Persephone has been raised in Olympus all her life - her mother absent, her father a cruel king, with her siblings teaching her all they know. She has seen all of what the gods and goddesses do and she is sick of it. When she learns her safety is threatened by staying in Olympus, she flees to the Underworld. There she stays until she learns that her leaving has caused the world to wilt. But leaving behind her newfound friends and Lady of the Underworld is something she will not do willingly, no matter the consequences.
