A supernatural short story with a Japanese influence.
This was an especially vivid dream my wife told me about this morning and it struck a chord with me developing into this short tale.
Otsukimi is the Japanese Moon viewing festival in Autumn and it seemed to fit so well with the story and the parasol that it became the title.

This is a Keyote story. A Japanese ghost has appeared to Paul on the Thornbrush Reservation. The only source of Japanese mythology are the internet and Mei. Mei is Chinese. She is familiar with some types of oriental ghosts. She suspects the ghost is after the male element that Paul represents. Life from the perspective of ghosts. follows the day by day life of Katsumi. A bang of the average third year highschool student placed within an ever changing world. After the death of his sister Hana, Katsumi finds out that the world is inhabited by ghosts, a manifestations of a dead human's soul that stays tethered to the world until the person who dies finds bliss by completing their last wishes. The story follow Katsumi through his morale conflict with his ghostly sister Hana and his best friend Kyoko, who he has known since childhood. The central story debated between the issues of morality in ones choices as well as having dark fantasy and romantic aspects intertwined with meta-humour through internal monologues from both Katsumi and Kyoko.
