A bit of a different view on Amelia and Thomas. Gonna base this starting at least a month after the Slaughterhouse shut down and the Hewitts turned to cannibalism. 

Amelia and Thomas were friends for a few years then as the town began to die Amelias family was one of the ones to move.  It being a last minute move to her grandparents place a few towns over with her parents she couldn't give her friend any warning. Now she's old enough to be on her own, and her first trip was to go back to the old town.All Rights Reserved

Each year, on the night of the first new moon, he returns to the houses he has marked, drags anybody inside-guilty or not-out into the forest, never to be seen again. MC initially refused to believe in paranormal phenomena, but as time went on, inexplicable catastrophes began to occur. The faceless individual attacked Jessy, threatened Cleo's mother in a letter, and painted a red raven symbol on Richy's garage. Jake and MC continue their investigation into Hannah's disappearance because it appears that no harm has been done until Richy was attacked by the man without a face in the woods and was bleeding.
