Ever since our mother died nine years ago in a fire, my twin brother, Jack Waters, and me have been on the run. Foster home to foster home we’ve been. Passing from state to state we’ve been running for eight years. When our mother died, we were sent directly to an orphanage, but in less than a month, we ran away. Far away from the ashes of our house in the outskirts of Manhattan Island in New York City, far away from our home in Manhattan Island. And I know what you may be thinking right now, what about out father. Well we never knew our father, never met him. Our mother never had any photos of him, and if she had any, they would have burned long ago in that dreadful fire, end of story. In some foster homes, we spent more time in them before we ran away; but in total, we ran away exactly eleven times. Now, you may think that our lives couldn’t get any worse, right? Well you were wrong. ‘Cause now a twenty-foot tall, heavily tattooed coach is attacking us with a baseball bat.
