"Why are you doing this," I whispered for only him to hear. His cold, shaky hands cupping my face. "Because I love you." The way he said it, with so much honesty and love; pissed me off. I reached forward, grabbed the front of his t-shirt, and pulled him closer to me. He smiled, and that's when I knew: I had to do this. Yeah, it'll hurt him, but letting him continue loving me, will be hurting him more. So I pulled his face towards mine and whispered in his ear, "You can't love the unlovable. Sorry, Dylan. Better luck next time." With that said, I left; with a single tear streaming down my face, and my now broken heart, shattered on the floor behind me. But did I stop walking? No. I'm too broken to be loved. I've accepted it. So why can't he? I'm Jade Matthews. I'm the quiet girl at school; but I always have a smile plastered on my face. A fake smile, of course. My sarcasm, bulletproof bullshit, stubbornness, and tumblr quotes get me through the day, barely. I'm a pro at making people believe that I'm fine, which comes in handy. I have a secret, though, that nobody knows. And I was planning on keeping it that way; that is, until Dylan Hayes, super hot bad boy, came into the picture. My picture. Now I just can't seem to get him out of it.. and trust me, I've tried to.

Safe

I always thought I was safe, you know? I mean, it wasn't really something I thought about before. It's not like I had a reason to worry about being particularly unsafe. I've always been perfectly normal anyways. Nothing exciting or dangerous happened to me. I was a plain Jane in every sense of the phrase, and nothing strange or particularly astonishing ever happens to people like me. My entire philosophy, however, was completely and drastically changed after being attacked and raped one night. I probably would have been killed if it weren't for Drake Collins, the closed off "tough guy" of my school. He came to my rescue, and reluctantly swore not to breathe a word to anyone. Unfortunately, my attacker escaped. It was after that, that I closed myself off from the few people that I did talk to before. My safety, my very sense of security, was violated. My world was swept out from under my feet. Drake stayed by my side the entire time, helping me through my struggles. He became the only one I could talk to or confide in, and was soon the only reason I woke up each morning. He kept me safe.
