She lives in Florence Italy's country where she is isolated from the world. Since she was homeschooled from 1st grade, she can barely identify what TTYL means. But to her, that was the "perfect life" to her.

Her peaceful and "perfect life" in Italy changes when a school in California called Sun Cove High offers a free scholarship and free lodging in an apartment.

Timing couldn't be better because miss popular of Sun Cove High, Shanon Paige, happens to be gone on a year long vacation to the caribbean to polish up on her acting skills. However, Shay and Shanon look freakishly identical making others believe Shay is Shanon.
