C'est la veille de noël à Derry. Nelly, 12 ans, retrouve dans son grenier, le carnet de Mike Hanlon où sont consignés tous les drames causés par les "hibernations" et les "réveils" de Ca, une entité démoniaque prenant la forme d'un clown. En cette année 2012, Ca s'est de nouveau réveillé et a choisi de frapper un soir de noël.
