Ever since Rina heard the tales of how her werewolf pack was saved by the Hellions of Alastar, she has wanted to join their ranks and become a Hellion herself. To be a Hellion is to be a hunter, a weapon that not only protects humans from creatures of the dark, but protects those very same creatures from themselves.

Assigned to Rina as her personal instructor is Zachariah, one of the oldest Hellions to survive the job. He's not at all what she expects. Not only is he unmotivated to take his position seriously, but at their first meeting, the vampire mentions his peculiar taste in blood, which Rina-a half-werewolf half-human-apparently fulfills in every aspect!

Becoming a Hellion won't be easy. Not only does she have to come to terms with her strengths and weaknesses as a halfling, but once Zachariah gets a taste of her blood, the vampire begins to rouse an addiction other than his own.
