I love this time of year, as the nights get longer and darker my thoughts turn, as I'm sure yours do too, to a terrible mishap or maybe a nice grizzly murder.
It's such an inspiring time of year!
But I do need cheering up too. I find the Christmas lights that appear in every High Street in every town make me smile. They also inspired this short story which I hope you will enjoy.
It stars Caleb, ex-soldier and war hero, now a high street accountant, who doesn't have normal customers. They have a habit of getting caught up in murder and mishaps.

London's chilly weather has to be one of my favourites. Especially when walking through the streets at night with almost no one around. The silence of the empty city is only heard by one of my ears as I have one AirPod in. I finally go inside the pharmacy, making my way to the hair products aisle. Picking up a vanilla-scented pair of shampoo and conditioner, I head to the self-checkout. I pay for my purchase and walk out the automatic doors, bumping into someone almost instantly. The sound of a heavy object hitting the ground startled me and I look over to the person asking if they're okay, I'm met with the green-eyed gaze of a man who held my arm to help me not fall like the thing that was on his back, which looks like a guitar case... Is it broken?! - This story is based on the song "No One Knows" by Stephen Sanchez featuring Laufey. - Lana decided to enjoy her early 20s as a physical education student and just moved to London, but only knows Charlotte, a girl she met during a trip to the city almost a decade ago. When she arrived Charlotte introduced her to Owen, who has been her best friend since birth. Lana started working as a barista and met Isaac, a man who was classmates with Owen a couple years back, and is also her coworker who seemed to enjoy playfully hitting on her, or making her life a living hell, as she would say. They can't live around each other without their usual bickering sessions that seem to never come to an end, yet, they're in the same friend group. // *I don't write smut, so please don't ask me to :) // 02/01/2025 - #35 friendgroup 10/01/2025 - #27 coworkers 11/01/2025 - #24 barista 10/01/2025 - #23 suggestive 10/01/2025 - #4 gentlelove

Once Caleb reached the bottom of the stairs he quietly opened the door and tiredly switched on the light "Jayden it isn't morning yet buddy you need to-" he froze in place staring at a man he didn't know standing in his living room. The man stared back at him like a deer in the headlights, he looked a few years older than Caleb, had stubble growing around his face, dark brown greasy hair that wasn't styled in any particular way and was wearing full black aside from the muddy navy blue trainers he was sporting. "Who the fuck are you and what are you doing here?" Caleb demanded in a hushed whisper, he also noticed the black backpack the stranger was carrying and the open living room window he'd clearly used to gain entry, the vase that was previously rested on the windowsill lay in pieces on the ground, that must've been the crash that had awoken Caleb from his tranquil slumber. "Just a passerby, no one much" the strange man whispered back an air of mystery hanging about his every word. "Inside my living room?" Caleb replied folding his arms and sizing the man up, after his beating earlier in the evening he wasn't exactly fighting fit, the intruder was also taller and muscly, there's no way Caleb would win if it came to a fight. "Consider me Santa Claus alright? Now go back to bed kid" the man answered calmly pointing at the door as if Caleb was a child. "I'm not a little kid anymore, I'm 18. Santa isn't real" Caleb responded harshly taking a step forward, the man noticeably took a step towards the window eyeing Caleb up with a smirk. Holly Garland on Santa's Lap [COMPLETE]

39 parts Complete Mature

Once upon a time, I was your typical good girl, doing my job like a total elf star, no complaints. Even with the little "gift" I was born with (aka my disability), I handled life pretty well. But let me tell you, luck's never been my plus-one. What am I talking about? Oh, just my lovely name-and the Christmas curse that comes with it! Every year, without fail, while my family's out decking the halls, I'm over here getting snowed under with the worst disasters. So, yeah, all I want for Christmas is for this nightmare of a season to be over. But this year? Oh, I've really hit the Christmas tree topper. Ever since I plopped myself down on Santa's lap at my office party and made a special wish, it's been one yule disaster after another! And now, I'm stuck in this sleigh ride from hell with that red-suited nightmare, forced to follow him wherever he jingles. Sure, he might be a total angel under that fake beard-mysterious and all-but I'm not about to let myself get wrapped up like some Christmas present under the tree. My brain's still in one piece, thanks. So, seriously, sweet baby Jesus, how did a nice executive assistant like me end up sleighing through this wild holiday misadventure full of danger, romance, and all the holly jolly chaos of Christmas?!
