After Padme Skywalker was dying in the childbirth, her newborn son, Luke sensed that she was at death's door and touch her with his hand. Something miracle happened, and Padme was abruptly recovered back to her restored health, much to Jedi Masters and Bail Oranga's shock.
Master Yoda believe that Luke is truly powerful with the Force and had prevented his mother from dying because he need and love her.
But then Master Yoda learns the disturbing news from the Force Ghost, Qui-Gon Jinn that if Sith Lords sensed and found Luke and if they were to turn Luke to the Dark Side, Padme will die and Luke will die or worse, too.
They knew that Luke won't be separated from his mother since he shared half of his life with her and had formed an Force bond with her which allowed her to communicate with and use the Force. If they separated him from his mother, he will be very upset and will not be able to live. So they agreed to send him with Padme to Tatooine to live with Anakin's step-family while Leia will be sent to Alderaan with Bail Organa who agreed to adopt her; much to Padme's heartbreak and dismay but it was for best and protection of her only daughter. Bail agreed to let her communicate with her daughter thru Holo.
Obi-Wan Kenobi decided to go with Luke and Padme to Tatooine to watch over and protect them from harm and Sith Lords.
Unknowingly to them, Luke had (with the use of Force) mangled to receive memories of his father from his mother's and Jedi Masters's's minds and had knew the truth about his father except for some parts.

Being the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker, she knew Leia's father well (at least, before he became a tyrant). Ahsoka talked all night with Luke and Leia, telling them tales of the Clone Wars, with Commander Rex joining in to show his admiration of his lost general. What if they could go back and stop the Empire from ever happening? What if they could stop their father from decending into the dark side? What if they could prevent the destruction of the Jedi?
