An AU where the characters in The Darkest Minds (almost) all go to the same school. Ruby's first person narrative. 
I tried to incorporate some of the events in the original series into my stories, while giving them a twist to fit in this narrative.

Also, this is everyday life, after all, so I'm not perfectly sure where this is all leading to. This fanfic will consist of short stories that would work in a chronological order, but wouldn't hurt if you come back to pick one or two chapters out and read them individually.


My first fanfic that is made public. (Before this, I only write for my own amusement.)

When some humans made contact with you years later, you immediately infected and possessed one of them and began to evolve rapidly. It was then you developed a personality and can think like an intelligent species. All before being captured, experimented on, and then escaping not long after. Luckily for the world, you aren't super bloodthirsty or a complete psychopath. Your personality is that of someone humble and wanting peace. Just like how mother nature is and must be respected as so. Speaking of the world, you figure out that the world you reside in now is called Remnant. Compared to the laboratory below, the outside world is much worse with the Grimm and humans fighting each other. But it is also the world where you will actually find your place in these harsh lands of savage beasts and advanced weaponry. Along with those whom you will reside alongside with.
