It takes a special kind of family to raise a kid with a debilitating illness. But if you can survive the challenges of raising a kid with Sickle Cell and usher that kid to adulthood with your family intact, that's a bond strong enough to withstand anything. This is a true story about my Sickle Cell diagnosis at 3 years old and how my family dealt with the long hospital stays, finding a doctor who cares, finding ways to make home life as comfortable as possible, and never ever letting me see myself as a burden. This is one short story from a full length autobiography I've been writing over the past year.
