It was simple enough, everyone was scared of Queens because that was [Your name]'s turf. And she was most famous for making the Delanceys cry for their mommies. Yeah, if someone did so much as lay a finger on her newsies, let's just say she knew one or two ways to make a body disappear. Needless to say, no newsie was setting a foot in Queens any time soon.


But when push came to shove, someone had to tell them about the strike. And Jack made an offer the boys couldn't refuse. 3 dollars to the brave soul willing to cross the East River. 


And those three dollars caused a whole other mess.

"Jack why's do I have ta come?" Race questions. "Because Racer, your my second which means you have ta come ta meetings and that includes Brooklyn." It's not that Race didn't like Brooklyn, he loved Brooklyn, he even sold his papers in Brooklyn, but the leader of Brooklyn terrified him in many ways. He was terrified of Spot physically and romantically. Race had seen Spot a few times and saw him during the strike, Race had fallen hard for this Brooklyn boy, but so many things could go wrong if Spot or anyone else found out about it. " Ace! Hotshot!" Spot yells. "Be ready by the time Jack Kelly gets here!" Spot yells again. To say the least Spot was nervous, he wasn't nervous of Jack, but he had heard rumors that Jack's second was coming with him. Spot new for a fact that Jack's second was Racetrack Higgins, the boy that Spot lets sell on his turf, the boy that he made laugh in the court room, the boy he had fallen in love with. Of course nobody can know about it, the things that they would do to Spot is the unthinkable. This is also kind of a musical, some of the Newsies will sing songs, some won't. I do not own any Newsie characters except Spike. I do not own any of the songs either. This is A sprace story if you haven't figured that out by now. I try to have two chapters in each week, might be more than that, might be less than that, just depends how my schedule's look. Some chapters are pretty short others are long. Racetrack Higgins was a normal Manhattan Newsie- more or less. He was Gay, but so were all of his brothers. He was Jack's Second in Command and had a rough past. He was stubborn, has anxiety, and is a good bit chaotic. Spot Conlon was not a normal Newsie. He was the King of Brooklyn, the Borough feared by most. Except for Race. (And a few others.) Said Italian blonde boy was actually a half Brooklyn, half Manhattan Newsie, as he sold in Brooklyn. Sure, Spot scared him sometimes, but not a lot. They were very different. Spot had brown hair, Race had dirty blonde. Race had been to the Refuge, Spot hadn't. Spot had brown eyes, Race had bright blue eyes. Race was strong, but easily outnumbered, Spot was strong, but wasn't easily outnumbered. One think they both agreed was that they cared for their boys more than anything and would do anything to keep them safe. Oh, that and that the other was cute.
