Sang Sorenson is an academy graduate. She's currently on a mission to find out what happened to her biological mother and to achieve this, she has to live in the house with her step mother who abuses her just as much as she does in canon. 

You'd think Kota and the others would pull her out of there in a split second knowing she's academy and that she's being harmed. But, the thing is, she doesn't know them yet.
